Alright so now you know about sex-linked patterns its time to learn about pedigree charts and how to read them. A pedigree chart just shows the phenotype of the person but if you know the persons phenotype you can take a good guess on what their genotype is. This pedigree chart shows the phenotype of color blindness between a family. Generation 1 is the first line of people which will be Bill and Bonnie. the line between them mean they are married and the line going down to the next line is their kids, generation 2, Barbara and Mary. Bill had color blindness because he is square is colored on. This means that the girls are carriers because they got that X chromosome with the color blindness but they aren't colorblind because their mom wasn't color blind. Barbra married tom who was color blind and had 3 kids, Charlene, Doug, and Ann. Doug was the only kid color blind because Tom was color blind and Barbara was a carrier. Mary married Frank who was also color blind and they had 2 kids, Linda and Donna. neither of them were color blind because their circles aren't colored in.
